What True Spirituality Looks Like

The bottom line is this if your path of spirituality is strengthening your identity, strengthening the ego, then that isn't the path towards the truth. But if the path of spirituality is somehow dissolving the identity humbling you, then that is a pursuit of truth. So it's really a question that we have to refer back to what am I doing, these practises that I'm taking part in? Am I reading stuff to figure out what level of spirituality I have reached? Am I reading up on stuff that create a space of questioning, a space of inquiry so that I can question the already existing narrative, look at it from a different perspective, perhaps, or be able to see through it. See through the veils of illusions that are stacked up creating this identity.
My goal here is to hopefully provide points and speak about how we can turn our attention inwards and away from the areas in life that actually just strengthen our identity. And testimony to this is, you know, I can give you so many intellectual or psychological proofs as to why the true path of spirituality is in the dissolution of the identity. In recognising the identity for what it really is and looking at the very transparency of the identity rather than strengthening it by providing you with tips and tricks to make you feel as though you are at a higher level of spirituality of some sort.
Intellectual and Psychological Proofs
So one particular example is, if you look at the practise of meditation itself, many people try to meditate, to manifest a certain thing, to try and reach a certain level, to try and embody a particular experience. But really, if meditation is not done, to just observe what is taking place, so that through the observation, through the listening, one can see and pierce through whatever is being seen and observed then it will strengthen the identity.
If it's not there to just simply realise what is taking place, rather than come at it with a particular goal, with a particular end destination of feeling in a certain type of way, or trying to manifest something or whatever it may be, then this isn't true spirituality.
Now, this can trigger a lot of people, and I'm not saying that any of it is right or wrong. People who are in the law of attraction stuff, the manifestation stuff, trying to reach higher frequencies, trying to reach higher levels. I don't know, witchcraft and crystals and stuff like that, none of it is right or wrong. It is what it is. But at the end of the day, if you are in the pursuit of absolute truth, then you've got to be honest with yourself and realise what you are engaging in. Is this going to lead me towards the truth? Is this going to unfold the truth that is already here for me.
If you feel like you need to possess a certain type of crystal, or you feel like you need to read a certain type of mantra in order for you to realise the truth, this is a very isolated, narrow path to take. It could still lead you to the truth, but it's a very narrow path to take and doesn't look at the holistic presence of just what is taking place.
If whatever practise you're taking into is somehow partitioning the very present moment, if it's somehow partitioning the natural wholeness of life, then you are partitioning the truth in a way and in that you will only end up with a half truth or something that is fundamentally untrue.
So I just wanted to share this with you guys and I know it may trigger some, but believe me, if it does trigger you, then we found an area that deserves a lot of observation perhaps. it deserves a lot of reflection.
My own experience
I myself went through this phase and looking back, it may have been a necessary phase to go through in order for me to recognise whether I am actually in the pursuit of truth or not. And like I said, there's nothing wrong with it. It's not like anything is bad or good about it. We have left these polarities behind. We are trying to find the wholeness, we are trying to find the oneness, the truth, the absolute complete truth that is there. Whatever you are doing, whatever you feel like will reveal itself to you, it's already there.
I myself went through a phase where there was this sort of click or this sort of realisation, where I was always watching all these spirituality videos. I was always watching reading all these books that contain all these practises and I was doing these meditations, these prayers, doing all of these practises. But at some point I just felt like, look, no matter how much I do this stuff, it hasn't really changed anything. All it's really doing is making me feel better about myself for doing these things. It's making me feel better about myself because I am now seeing myself as a good spiritual or religious person now.
So for some time I stopped listening to people, I stopped reading anything, I stopped doing anything. And as I stopped, I stopped these things because I know that when I go to search about a particular topic and try to read a book, it's with the intention of seeking something or a place that is not here as it is right now. I'm trying to always go there or here or higher, you know, always trying to find something alternative to what is happening now. But really, the truth which has always been there, will always be there and is here now. It’s here now. You sacrificing or distracting yourself away from right now, it's a futile pursuit. If your pursuit is the truth, the absolute truth. This is really what needs to happen.
And if you are hit with this realisation, you may all of a sudden just put everything aside. Everything that you already knew, everything that all your goals, they're not going to go anywhere. You put them all aside and you just be here. That you are not willing to surrender yourself because you just think that this place is a lot shinier. This place is a lot nicer.
Do forgive me for this harsh approach. I know for some it can be tough, but for some it could just ring like it's the sound you need to hear. For some it sounds liberating. It's like this is really what I needed to hear. I'm going to put everything aside. I'm just going to be here now.
The Takeaway
No matter your background, no matter what it is that you believe in, no matter what your goals are, no matter your previous traumatic history, which you may reexperience, which may reappear by just being here now. We’re going to allow our desire of truth to overcome our desire of comfort, our desire to neglect and run away.
Everything you have ever been looking for is here. You may not even identify yourself as someone who’s on the spiritual path. You could be on a particular career path that has completely occupied your life. You may be in the pursuit to make a million pounds dollar or 10 billion or whatever it may be. And you may just realize, “Hey, actually everything I’ve really wanted is here now. It cannot be anywhere else.”
